To begin with, let me make it clear that I LOVE my Tivo. I have one in my room and my parents have one in the living room (they are DirecTV series2 Tivo’s, so they don’t have all the bells and whistles as the normal ones do, nevertheless I <3 em). Today it was reported that Tivo is talking to both Yahoo and Google about a possible partnership. Just as I posted about “Google Video?“, Yahoo is apparently developing a similar program.

This will allow users to download video from Yahoo and/or Google and play it on their Tivo unit! It’s not really clear if this will have to wait for TV over IP technology yet, but either way, this will be really cool if it starts to happen. Torrents will be no more, instead Google will supply all of my free DVD needs.
